The Cape Town Folk ’n Acoustic Music Festival, Baxter, Rondebosch. Top South African artists will perform completely acoustically in an intimate, concert-style setting. These performances will be delivered in the form of collaborations and will be stripped down to the essence of the songs – guitar or piano and voice. Line-up includes David Kramer, Valiant Swart and Macstanley. Friday, Saturday

COMEDY AND THEATRE

Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, Baxter, Rondebosch. Cape Town’s premier comedy festival returns for another popular season with a selection of top funny people from home and abroad. Saturday, Sunday

Raiders the Musical, Rosebank Theatre. This Nicholas Ellenbogen show is a journey into World War 2 and tells the quirky story of how Salty Hepburn earned his stripes to fly the Aardvark over Poland for Winston Churchill, sing in an oompah band in Germany and yodel from the skies. All the laughs of the previous Raider’s, now with the added spice of live music. Winner of an Ovation Award at this year’s Grahamstown Festival. Friday, Saturday. Final performances

Born in the RSA, Baxter. Fresh from Grahamstown, this revival celebrates the legendary theatre personality Barney Simon. The docu-drama, which was devised by Barney and the cast, is directed by Thoko Ntshinga, who performed the role of Thenjiwe in the original production back in 1985.  Friday, Saturday. Exhibitors include silversmiths, carpenters, ceramic artists, interior decorators, textile artists, creators and designers of varied genres, carefully chosen for the quality and creativity of their work. Frostbite U19 Indoor Festival, Newlands Cricket grounds. Insane visuals, thundering sound rigs, live laser shows, live entertainment and a multi-genre music lineup including 5FM’s Euphonik! Starts at 7pm.

WOMEN’S DAY

A Night in Africa, Wittebome Civic Centre. A charity event in celebration of National Women’s Day, an African theme with guest speakers, beauty stations, fashion show, hot auction, lucky draws and spot prize, live performance by Salome and after-party with DJ Catt and the FBA.

MARKETS

Earth Fair Market, Tokai. One of the best selection of fresh produce shopping traders in the Cape. It’s a well-established, indoor, conveniently situated market with lots of parking.

Jolly Carp Organic Market, Retreat. Don’t miss the yummy lamb curry, butter chicken and breyani at this market – not to mention special curry paste with all the ingredients to make two pots of curry. Medical talk at 12 pm, craft workshop for kids at 2 pm, scrumptious high tea 2-5 pm, all dedicated to women.

Rondebosch Village Market, Rondebosch Library. It’s a small market but the quality is outstanding: get there early before all the beautiful organic produce, bakes, jams and cheese are sold out!

WOMEN’S DAY

Nail-painting Guinness World Record attempt, Momentum Golf Driving Range, Wynberg. Join other women at Inside on the Greens to get your nails done for an excellent cause. If you’ve always wanted to get your name in the Guinness Book of World Records this is your chance! Attempting to set the world record for ‘Most Manicured Nails’ in order to raise funds for Saint Anne’s Home, 10 manicure stations will try and do as many mini manis in six hours as possible to break the record. Aside from nail art, the day offers much in the way of other entertainment, including live musical performances, speakers on good health and wellness, and free pro golf lessons.
